kCAT CAN: With Don Bosco, I can make it

It's St. John Bosco's feast day!

When I was younger, I always look forward to January 31 because that means there's no classes in our school.. ;P But even after I graduating from DBS, I'll always treat January 31 as a special day. Don Bosco (school) was a big part in what I've become today.
This is the reason why I wanted Maro, my brother, to study at DBS too (he started studying there in 3rd grade), because I want him to experience what Talitha (my sister, batch2006) and I have learned in DBS.

Monday is the feast day of St. John Bosco. He died on January 31, 1888. He is the patron saint of the young ones, the father and teacher of the youth, and I am blessed to have studied in one of the schools that was named after him. I am proud to be a Bosconian!

Our home is our first venue of learning; the second is our school. After studying nursery school at a learning center near our home, I was ready to study at a bigger school for my preparatory schooling. My parents learned that there was a new Don Bosco School (DBS) in Manila that accepts girls, and since my dad’s and mom’s brothers were Bosconians, they were eager to enroll me there.

Amen!

A blogger friend left a comment on my blog post and shared this quote:

"God gives us hardships and trials only because HE has complete faith and confidence that we can handle it"

YES!!! I've been a believer of that ever since.. No need to explain further, the quote says it all..

I'll also quote myself:
"Thankful na nga ako kasi alam ko naman na kaya bakit Niya ako binigyan ng napakabigat na problema. kasi.. alam Niya.. alam ng Diyos na tlaagang strong ako di ba?"
(YSPEAK interview, 12/8/2007)

Not-So-Good News

We went to my eye doctor last Monday, regarding my swollen swallowing right eye.. Tarsorrhaphy is not an option anymore since the bone at the side/back of my right eye is actively pushing it out.. So he advised us to see my neurosurgeon for a checkup regarding that..

while we were in Dr. Lopez's (my NS) clinic, explaining my CT Scan plate and my right eye.. I can already sense that something is wrong, though I didn't feel anxious nor worried.. I got to catch up some words that my doctor was saying: "tumor" "bone" "ct scan" "mri" etc. etc.

and then I finally butt in and asked, "anong meron?" as if i was curious to know if there'll be an upcoming event.. ;P

Whenever someone tells me that he or she admires my skills in raising funds to sustain my medical needs, and asks me how I do it, I answer with these simple words: "If you are willing to be helped, you will receive help; and for as long as you sincerely ask, you will be helped."

Help does not only come through financial assistance. There are a lot of ways with which one person can help another person. Besides, people need people. Man can live for himself, but never by himself.

Rest In Peace Chesca

I was shocked when my sister told me about the news last Friday.. My 1st reaction was, "Huh?! Totoo?" I really can't believe it coz I remember reading her FB post a few days ago.. until I saw her body inside the casket.. :( Chesca was my sister's classmate and my schoolmate as well and her mom (who have also passed away) used to be my science teacher..
